Okay, just throwing this out there, but I'd like to bust my ass in order to get gear to become an efficient off-tank for some of the trash pulls we have to deal with. More or less this is a request/statement I'm making so I can loot whore the hand me downs from Ignignoct. It's entirely up to the raid as a whole though obviously, I'm just stating that I'd like to try and fulfill the off-tank role after I get some decent epic gear (I don't do too hot in blues even as Prot spec.)
Why do we need an off-tank? Well if Ignignoct or Sleyvas can't make it to a raid somebody is going to have to fill someone's shoes. I also know that Sleyvas really doesn't want to continue tanking or bringing Sleyvas (from my understanding he originally signed on for this whole deal as his Rogue.) I'd like to try and build my gear up so I can at least fill the off-tank shoes to some degree while remaining in Holy spec. Before you say you can't do it, I've noticed something with Prot spec, being specced Prot and being specced Holy/Prot is basically the same thing except you suck at healing. Prot really doesn't have any MAJOR benefits to it aside from Ardent Defender and perhaps Holy Shield, but even those talents aren't entirely required if your gear gets to a certain point. It more or less breaks down into needing a lot of +STA and +DEF, which is exactly what I'm working on.

it my honest opinion i say got for it. WE dont need more then 2 healers for the entire run. Well depending on how high arinelle is. But the fact is you could off tank everything, be prot specced ( id still prefer the spec ) and heal on any boss you arent tanking. for nether/prince/night bane your heals would be enough to make us win. shailyn of WW does this often and in full prot spec heals like a champ. ( again prot isnt needed but prefered imo).
as for without sley /ig we would be fucked, sure.. but we can say that about anyone, even when the nub hunter dont show we are left scrambling. ( not calling ale a nub just her class :P ).

Well, I tried tanking a heroic as prot spec, and it was a HUGE challenge, I was still ridiculously squishy and I think it was just because of my subpar loot and lack of some phat epics or something, because I had all my stuff enchanted and geared out and ready to go.
You picked up the prot gloves last night yes?
That's a step in the right direction at least.
I heard from multiple people the warrior you guys picked up last night wasn't too hot?
Does he have the potential to improve or should we start searching for a replacement asap instead of gearing up someone we're going to drop like a bad habit?

He honestly wasn't that bad, he was DPSing as Prot, and he has to remain as Prot for his guild. It's in the above post I basically explain the whole deal with him. Overall though he's a great guy and I think he's capable of getting better. Anyhow, yeah, the Prot gloves are a huge leap in the right direction for my tanking, hopefully I can score myself the helmet sooner or later.
